We used a full crew over 4 days to cover multiple divisions and services within one company.
The Challenge
Taking advantage of our policy to be as efficient as possible, Golden Gate decided to have Snowy Peak create 6 commercials across 3 different services for 3 different states and audiences. The biggest challenge was finding a way to showcase the large variety of services offered by Golden Gate while utilizing the fewest possible locations and talent… all to keep the production cost down and maximize the quality. We needed to show how accessible their retail store is as well as highlight the online retail services they provide. At the same time, we showed their in-town, same-day delivery service for people needing items right away, and their ability to ship products to other locations. Finally, we wanted to recreate a previous commercial they had that showed their transportation services. All in all, it was a challenge to organize and shoot so many scenes as efficiently as possible.
Our Solution
We spent extra time in pre-production, making sure all 6 scripts, storyboards, and shot lists were ready so we could shoot scenes from different commercials out of order; utilizing all of the locations for more than one scene. Ultimately this allowed us to save our clients lots of time and money and provide them with several more commercials for a fraction of what it would cost to shoot everything separately.
How We Made It
- Camera & lenses
- RED Raptor with DZO Catta Zoom Lenses, and motion captured on the RED Komodo 6K with XEEN Cinema lenses.
- Crew & lighting
- 7-Person Crew: Director, Director of Photography, Producer, Gaffer, Grip, AC, and Hair & Makeup. We brought a full grip truck and multiple camera setups to tackle shooting on cars, indoors, outdoors during the day, outdoors at night, and several interior locations.
