Rocky Mountain Wolf Action Fund

Proposition 114 passed; wolves are back in Colorado

01 / 04

The Challenge

The fund needed an introductory film to build public support for wolf reintroduction. A previous production company had already shot cinematic footage in Colorado and Yellowstone, so our material had to cut against theirs without the seam showing — on a budget well below what that footage cost. Then a late-May snowstorm took out the schedule.

Our Solution

We moved the shoot to mid-June and filmed three days in Summit County, working sunrise and sunset either side of the solstice. That meant very long days, but it caught the one window where the valleys are green and the peaks still hold snow — which is what let the new footage sit alongside the Yellowstone material without looking like a different film.

The Results

The initiative passed at the November 2020 election and wolf reintroduction became state law. The film was used throughout the campaign to build support and raise awareness.
