Here are some of our tips:
1. Prepare Thoroughly for the Interview: Research the topics of discussion beforehand. Prepare a list of insightful questions that will elicit detailed and meaningful responses. Ideally, you’d want to share the topics/questions with the interviewee.
2. Choose the Right Setting or Location: Select a quiet and well-lit location for the interview to minimize distractions and/or noise to ensure good audio and video quality. Consider using a backdrop that is professional and relevant to the interview subject. A branded backdrop is always a good choice, if applicable.
3. Test the Video Equipment Beforehand: One of the obvious tips – test the video and audio equipment, including cameras, microphones, and lighting, before the interview to ensure they are working properly. Adjust settings for optimal video and sound quality.
4. Properly Frame the Shot: Position the camera at eye level with the interviewee and frame the shot to include their head and shoulders. Use the rule of thirds to compose the shot and create visual interest.
5. Establish Rapport: Build a rapport with the interviewee before starting the recording. Engage in small talk, explain the interview format, and make them feel comfortable and relaxed.
6. Encourage Authenticity: Encourage the interviewee to speak naturally and authentically. Avoid scripted responses and allow for spontaneity and genuine conversation.
7. Ask Open-Ended Questions: Ask open-ended questions that prompt detailed responses and encourage the interviewee to share their expertise, insights, and personal experiences.

8. Listen Actively: Listen attentively to the interviewee’s answers and ask follow-up questions based on their responses. Show genuine interest in their perspectives and contributions.
9. Manage Time Effectively: Keep the interview on track and manage time effectively to cover all planned topics and questions within the allotted time frame.
10. Edit with Care: After the interview, review the footage carefully and edit the video to remove any unnecessary pauses, filler words, or technical glitches. Enhancing the video with relevant visuals, graphics, and transitions is a great way to come with a professional, engaging outcome.
